On another chilly Antioch summer evening, Jeff would return to the track to race his wingless sprint and defend his win from the week before. Jeff would be in the first heat. While running third, the motor would let go and would end Jeff's night. This would also end out Sprint car season. We have a few more modified shows this year so check back for updates soon. Next Saturday is the big Modified Open Show Weekend! $3500 to win at Antioch on Saturday night and $3500 to win at Merced on Sunday. If you win both nights, they will throw in another $1000. Should be an amazing weekend.

On the final weekend in July, Jeff would take on a new class of cars as well as his sprinter. Jeff would get a ride in the #8 Jerry Hetrick owned modified and would also race his #14 sprint car. The track would go away fast during hot laps. Jeff was leading the second wingless sprint heat when he caught the rut in turn 1 and also sent it over the wall. 1 lap later the after effect of hitting the rut in turn 1 would break the rear end, ending Jeff's sprint run for the night. With only having the modified left, Jeff started 3 in his heat and finished an impressive 4th out of 7 cars. Not bad for the first time in the modified.

On a very comfortable Saturday evening, the Sprints once again came to Antioch Speedway for a night of fun-filled racing events. Jeff would roll out in the last row of the second heat. Perry (15p) would cross the line first but would fail to make it to tech inspection, as do the 2nd and 3rd place cars. So with Jeff crossing the line 4th, it would actually give him a 2nd place finish with fellow friend Dan Gonderman(99) getting the win. I will hand it to Gonderman (99), great observation with noticing that no one had gone to tech. Smart.

On an overcast evening at Antioch Speedway, the Wingless Sprint cars came back to track for a wild night of racing. 12 sprints showed up for the nights event. Jeff would start outside front row in the first heat. From green to checkered, Jeff would lead every lap to put another notch in his heat race winning belt. This would transfer him to the night's trophy dash. Jeff would start 4th in the dash but would only make it up to second before the checkered flag waved. The winner was Billy Macedo, and it would be his first trophy dash win. Congrats to Billy.
